Privacy Policy — Eyezo for Mac

Applies to the Eyezo macOS app  ·  Last updated: July 31, 2026

This policy covers Eyezo for Mac specifically. The mobile app is covered by our main Privacy Policy.

The short version

  • Your break history never leaves your Mac. There is no upload path for it anywhere in the app.
  • Eyezo never records or accesses your camera or microphone. It only checks whether they are in use, so it can avoid interrupting you mid-call.
  • No analytics, no tracking, no advertising. The Mac app contains no third-party tracking or analytics software of any kind.
  • You can use Eyezo without an account. Signing in is only needed to restore Premium you already own.

1. What stays only on your Mac

The following never leaves your device and is never sent to us:

  • Your break history — when you rested or skipped a break
  • Your Eye-Care Score, streaks and trends — all calculated locally from that history
  • Your settings — break intervals, per-app rules, theme, and preferences
  • Which apps you use — Eyezo checks the frontmost app to apply your break rules, but this is evaluated on your Mac in the moment and is never stored or transmitted

This data lives in your Mac's Application Support folder and is removed when you delete the app.

2. Camera & microphone

Eyezo can hold camera and microphone permissions so it knows not to interrupt you during a meeting. To be completely clear about what that does and does not mean:

  • Eyezo asks macOS a single yes/no question: “is a camera or microphone currently in use by anything on this Mac?”
  • Eyezo never opens a camera or microphone stream, and therefore never records, stores, transmits or processes any image, video or audio.
  • The answer is used once, immediately, to decide whether to hold your break — and is never saved.
  • This is a Premium feature. If you do not use it, Eyezo does not check at all.

3. What we collect (only if you sign in)

You can use Eyezo's core eye-care features without ever creating an account. If you do sign in — to unlock Premium you bought elsewhere, or to link a purchase to your account — we receive:

  • Email address — to identify your account and your Premium entitlement
  • Name and profile picture — only if you choose to sign in with Google (optional)
  • A device identifier — a random code generated on your Mac. It is not derived from your hardware and cannot identify you or your machine. It exists so Premium can be limited to one Mac per account.

4. What we do NOT collect

  • Your screen contents, screenshots, or anything you type
  • Camera images, video, or audio — see section 2
  • Browsing history or the contents of any app or website
  • Location data
  • Contacts, calendar, files, or documents
  • Advertising identifiers — Eyezo shows no ads and performs no tracking
  • Analytics or behavioural telemetry — the Mac app has no analytics software in it

5. Purchases

Eyezo Premium on Mac is a one-time purchase handled entirely by Apple's In-App Purchase system. Apple processes the payment — we never see or receive your card details, billing address, or Apple ID. Eyezo only receives confirmation from Apple that a purchase exists.

If you already own Eyezo Premium elsewhere, signing in restores it here at no additional cost.

6. When Eyezo talks to the internet

Eyezo is offline-first — the timer, breaks and score all work with no connection. It contacts our server only for:

  • Signing in and keeping your session valid
  • Checking your Premium status, so features unlock on this Mac
  • Registering this Mac against your account, for the one-device Premium limit
  • App configuration — such as the help-guide link

All connections use encrypted HTTPS.

7. Storage & security

  • Your sign-in tokens are stored in the macOS Keychain, protected by the operating system — never in plain-text files.
  • Eyezo runs inside Apple's App Sandbox, which restricts it to its own data.
  • The app is signed and notarized by Apple, so macOS can verify it has not been tampered with.

8. Third-party services

The Mac app contains no third-party analytics, advertising, or tracking software. The only outside services involved are:

  • Apple — for In-App Purchases and app distribution
  • Google Sign-In — only if you choose to sign in with Google
  • Our own server — for the account and Premium functions listed in section 6

9. Your rights

  • Use Eyezo anonymously — no account is required for eye care
  • Delete your local data — remove the app, and your history and settings go with it
  • Delete your account — request it at any time via our account deletion page
  • Sign out at any time, which removes your credentials from this Mac

10. Children's privacy

Eyezo is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them. If you believe a child has provided us information, contact us and we will remove it.

11. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy. Significant changes will be communicated in the app or by email, and the “Last updated” date above will change.
