Privacy Policy
Eyezo ("we," "our," or "the app") is developed by Shanu Tyagi. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, and protect your information when you use Eyezo.
By using Eyezo, you agree to the collection and use of information as described in this policy.
1. Information We Collect
1.1 Account Information
When you create an account, we collect:
- Email address — for account creation, login, and password recovery
- Name — for personalizing your experience (optional)
- Profile picture — if you sign in with Google or Apple (optional)
1.2 Usage Data (Stored Locally Only)
The following data is collected and stored only on your device. It is never sent to our servers:
- Screen time statistics — how long you use each app, tracked via Android's UsageStatsManager
- Screen time limit — your daily screen time limit setting and notification preference
- Installed app list — to let you customize per-app break settings
- Timer state — remaining countdown time
- Break events — individual break activity with timestamps, stored for 14 days and automatically deleted
- App categorization — apps are automatically sorted into categories (entertainment, games, social, etc.) using Android's app classification. Category assignments, reminder mode preferences, and schedules are stored locally only
- App preferences — theme choice, reminder interval, break mode, sound settings
1.3 Eye Care Activity (Synced to Server)
We collect minimal aggregated data to maintain your streak across devices:
- Daily summary — total breaks followed and skipped per day (counts only, no timestamps)
- Streak count — your consecutive days of eye care activity
Individual break events and timestamps are stored only on your device and are automatically deleted after 14 days. We do not collect which specific app you were using when a break was triggered.
1.4 Subscription Information
If you subscribe, we store your subscription state on our servers: the plan you chose, billing cycle, start and expiry dates, and the Google Play purchase token used to verify the purchase. We never see or store your payment details (card, UPI) — Google Play processes all payments.
1.5 Parental Control (Linked Child Accounts)
If an account is linked as a child in Parental Control (by entering a parent's invite code after an explicit in-app disclosure), the following is collected and shown to the linked parent:
- Daily wellbeing summaries — total screen time, breaks taken and skipped, compliance rate, and streak
- Supervision events — e.g. a blocked settings-change attempt, a request to change a limit, or a device-clock change
The parent cannot see the child's messages, photos, browsing, location, per-app usage details, or the content of what they do in apps. While linked, Strict Mode stays on and only the parent can remove the link; the child can always sign out or delete their account. We also store the parental link itself and the parent's PIN (hashed).
1.6 Device Information
- Device model and OS version — for compatibility and crash reporting
- App version — to ensure you have the latest features
- Push token — so we can deliver notifications (Firebase Cloud Messaging)
1.7 Feedback & Support
If you submit feedback, we collect your message, the feedback type, an optional star rating, your app version and device model, and — only if you opt in — your account email so we can reply.
2. Information We Do NOT Collect
- We do not access your camera or microphone
- We do not read your messages, emails, or personal files
- We do not track your location
- We do not sell your data to third parties
- We do not share your personal information with advertisers
- We do not collect browsing history or website data
- We do not send individual break event timestamps to our servers
3. How We Use Your Information
- To provide the 20-20-20 eye break reminder service
- To show your eye care analytics and compliance score
- To manage your account and subscription
- To send break reminder notifications (which you can disable)
- To notify you when your daily screen time limit is reached (if enabled)
- To improve app stability through crash reports
- To respond to your feedback and support requests
4. Permissions We Request
4.1 Usage Access Permission
Eyezo uses Android's UsageStatsManager to track how long you spend in each app. This data stays on your device and is used solely to determine when you need an eye break and to show your screen time statistics. We never upload per-app usage data to any server.
4.2 Display Over Other Apps
This permission allows Eyezo to show the eye care overlay on top of whatever app you're using. The overlay only appears when your break timer reaches zero.
4.3 Notification Permission
Used to send you break reminders, pre-break notifications, and daily screen time limit alerts. You can disable notifications at any time in your phone's settings.
4.4 Exact Alarms & Battery Optimization (Optional)
Eyezo uses exact alarms so break reminders fire on time, and may ask you to exempt it from battery optimization so the reminder service keeps working in the background. Both requests are explained in-app and can be declined — core reminders still work, though some phones may delay them.
5. Third-Party Services
5.1 Firebase (Google)
- Firebase Authentication — for secure login (Google Sign-In, Apple Sign-In, email/OTP)
- Firebase Crashlytics — for crash reporting and app stability
- Firebase Analytics — for anonymous usage statistics (no personal data)
- Firebase Cloud Messaging — for push notifications
Firebase's privacy policy: firebase.google.com/support/privacy
5.2 Google AdMob
Free users see limited ads served by Google AdMob: a banner on the home screen and an occasional full-screen ad (at most one every 2 hours) before the statistics view. The AdMob SDK automatically collects device identifiers (advertising ID), ad-interaction data and diagnostics for ad serving and fraud prevention. You can opt out of personalized ads in your device's Google Settings. Premium subscribers see no ads, and accounts linked as a child in Parental Control never see ads — even on the free tier.

5.3 Google Play Billing
Subscription payments are processed by Google Play. We do not collect or store your payment information (credit card, UPI, etc.). All payment data is handled by Google.
6. Data Storage & Security
- Account data is stored on secure servers with encryption in transit (HTTPS/TLS)
- Passwords are hashed using industry-standard algorithms (bcrypt)
- Authentication tokens are stored in encrypted device storage
- Screen time data, break events, and app preferences are stored locally on your device only
- Local break event data is automatically deleted after 14 days
- We implement reasonable security measures to protect your data
7. Data Retention
- Account data is retained as long as your account is active
- Daily summary data (aggregated counts) is retained on the server for analytics
- Local break events are automatically deleted after 14 days
- Feedback data is retained to improve the app
- Local device data is deleted when you uninstall the app
8. Your Rights
You have the right to:
- Access your personal data by contacting us
- Delete your account and all associated data
- Opt out of personalized ads via Google Settings
- Disable any permission at any time in your phone's settings
- Export your data by contacting us
To delete your account, go to Settings → Account → Delete Account in the app, or email us.
9. Children's Privacy
Eyezo is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child under 13 has provided us with personal information, please contact us and we will delete it promptly.
Users aged 13–17 may use Eyezo with parental awareness. The app promotes healthy screen habits and does not contain inappropriate content.
Accounts linked as a child through Parental Control are expected to be operated with the consent and supervision of a parent or guardian, who controls the link. Linked child accounts are completely excluded from advertising, and the data a parent sees is limited to the wellbeing summaries and supervision events described in section 1.5.
10. Advertising
Eyezo's free version displays limited ads through Google AdMob — a home-screen banner and an occasional full-screen ad (at most one every 2 hours). These ads may be personalized based on your device's advertising ID, which you can reset or opt out of in your device settings. Premium subscribers enjoy an ad-free experience, and linked child accounts never see ads.
We do not use your eye care data, screen time data, or health information for advertising purposes.
11. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of significant changes through the app or via email. The "Last updated" date at the top reflects the most recent revision.
