Eyezo for Mac

Your eyes, protected — right from the menu bar  ·  macOS 13 Ventura or later

Eyezo sits quietly in your menu bar with a live countdown to your next eye break. Every 20 minutes it guides you through a 20-second rest — then chimes when you can look back, so you never have to watch the clock.

Get Eyezo for Mac

The Mac beta is open. Install it with TestFlight, Apple’s free app for trying apps before they launch.

Coming soon to the Mac App Store  ·  macOS 13+  ·  Apple Silicon & Intel

Try everything free for 7 days. After that, Eyezo keeps giving you an “Ask me” eye break every 20 minutes for free. Premium keeps everything else — as a yearly or monthly subscription, or a one-time Lifetime purchase.

Free — no account needed

The 20-20-20 rule, free for good

20-20-20 break reminders

Every 20 minutes Eyezo asks if you are ready for a 20-second rest — the interval eye-care research recommends. Say yes, and it guides you through it.

Live menu bar countdown

See exactly how long until your next break, right in the menu bar. Or hide the numbers and let Eyezo tap you on the shoulder instead.

Smart idle detection

Step away and the timer pauses instead of punishing you. Away longer? It starts over — because your eyes already rested.

Heads-up before each break

A gentle notice a few seconds before, so a break never ambushes you mid-sentence. Snooze or skip right from it.

Sounds and the “look back” chime

Your eyes are away from the screen during a rest — so Eyezo tells you by ear when the 20 seconds are done. Choose the sounds and their volume.

Keyboard shortcuts

⌃⌥B for a break now, ⌃⌥P to pause or resume, ⌃⌥D to snooze — from any app, no extra permission. Off until you turn them on.

Also included free: launch at login, light & dark themes, a “take a break now” button whenever your eyes need one, pause for an hour, today's break count with your daily streak, and Eyezo in 17 languages.

Premium — yearly, monthly or Lifetime

Everything Eyezo does, for your eyes

Glare Guard

Dims every window except the one you are working in, so there is less on screen competing for your eyes. Warm amber, black or your own colour, with separate strengths for light and dark mode.

Full-screen breaks, on your timing

A heads-up first, then a short rest that covers the screen. Choose how often and how long, and the break screen: Calm, Breathe, Horizon or Minimal.

Never interrupt a meeting

Eyezo notices when you are on a call or watching a video and holds your break until you are free. It checks only whether your microphone is in use — it never records anything, and it has no camera access at all.

Per-app break rules

A full overlay while you are coding, a gentle nudge in your design tool, nothing at all in a game. Set the rule for the app in front straight from the menu bar.

Strict mode

Removes the skip button. For the days your eyes need the discipline more than your deadline does.

Smart timing

Typing when a break is due? Eyezo waits until you stop. Worked a long stretch with no rest? The next break lasts a little longer. Plus Scheduling: breaks only during your working hours, or none at set times like lunch or a daily meeting.

Countdown beside the pointer

A small ring next to your mouse counts down the last seconds before a break — right where you are already looking.

Blink, posture and water

Small reminders to blink, sit up straight and drink water. The screen dims for a moment — they never block your work.

Eye-Care insights

Your Eye-Care Score, compliance trends, current and longest streaks, and a five-week activity map. Export it all as CSV.

Where to find everything

The menu bar eye — click it for the countdown, Take a break, snooze (+5, +10 or +15 minutes), Pause for 1 hour, the Glare Guard switch and strength, and the break rule for the app you are using right now. The icons along the bottom open Insights, Settings and Help.

The Eyezo window has one page per topic. Every setting has a ? that explains it in plain words, with an example:

  • Home — your next break, today at a glance
  • Breaks — how often and how long, Strict mode, the break screen, what happens when you step away, scheduling
  • App Rules — the rule for every app; pick from the apps on your Mac
  • Smart Pause — what a break does during a video or a call
  • Alerts — the heads-up, snooze length, the countdown beside the pointer, where messages appear
  • Wellness — blink, posture and water reminders
  • Glare Guard — strength for light and dark mode, colour
  • Insights — your Eye-Care Score, streaks, the activity map and the CSV export
  • General — language, sounds, keyboard shortcuts, launch at login
  • Premium — your plan, Restore Purchases, and the optional Eyezo account with settings sync

On the free plan, Premium settings stay visible but greyed out. Your choices are kept — they come back exactly as they were the moment Premium does.

Your data stays on your Mac

Your break history, your Eye-Care Score and your settings never leave your device — there is no upload path for your history in the app. Eyezo contains no analytics, no tracking and no ads.

An Eyezo account is optional. You only need one to use a Lifetime purchase on a Windows PC too, or to sync your settings between your Macs — and then we keep your email, the purchase and the devices using it, nothing else.

Frequently asked

What happens after the 7-day free trial?

Nothing is charged — the trial needs no payment method. Eyezo goes back to its free plan: an “Ask me” eye break every 20 minutes, for good. Buy Premium whenever you want everything back.

Is Premium a subscription?

Your choice. Premium comes as a yearly or monthly subscription, or as a one-time Lifetime purchase that never renews. Subscriptions can be cancelled any time in your App Store account settings.

Do I need an account to use Eyezo?

No. Premium belongs to your Apple Account, so it works on every Mac signed in with it — use Restore Purchases after reinstalling. Sign in (with Apple, Google, or an email and password) only if you want the Lifetime bonus on Windows or settings sync.

I bought Lifetime on Windows. Do I pay again on my Mac?

No. Sign in on the Mac with the same Eyezo account (Premium page → Eyezo account), and Premium turns on for one Mac — a free bonus while our cross-device service is available.

Does Eyezo watch my screen or use my camera?

No. Eyezo never captures your screen or records your microphone, and it has no camera access at all. For the meeting-detection feature it asks macOS a single yes/no question — “is the microphone currently in use?” — and nothing is ever recorded or stored. Glare Guard reads only where windows are, never what is in them.

Will breaks interrupt me during a presentation?

With Premium, no — Eyezo detects calls and videos and holds the break. On the free plan every break asks first, so you can simply say “not now”.

Does it drain my battery?

No. Eyezo is a lightweight menu bar app that stays idle between breaks and releases its timer entirely when you step away.
